Meet Dave Mcentee

Dave is the final link in the sponsored anglers chain. Firstly we would like to wish Dave and wife Zoë all the best in the married life, I am sure they will be very happy together.

Dave is an avid carp angler that has dedicated his fishing to catching carp from his targeted waters. Dave is a member of ECHO (English Carp Heritage Organisation)  and is very big on fish welfare and looking after our stock of carp here in the UK. We finally met up with Dave on 15th October at a venue called Bradley Pond with the very kind permission of Newton Abbot Fishing Association who this water belongs to. Bradley Pond is a former clay pit covering four acres to a depth of around 30ft at it's deepest. The lake is off the beaten track and is only available to full members so I am very grateful to the committee at NAFA for allowing Dave and I to fish this beautiful water. Details of Newton Abbot Fishing Association can be found by clicking here

Dave and I met up at our warehouse first in order for Dave to choose his sponsored tackle. After looking at the range of items available to him Dave opted for the Koike Donor carp rods due to the slim blanks and through action and paired these up with the B-King Freespool Carp Reels size 60. Dave also had an Adventure Professional Carp Bag, aluminium two rod pod and assorted tackle. Dave also collected his first batch of SMARTBaiT's consisting of the GLM (Green Lipped Mussel) and CSL (Corn Steep Liquor) boilies and hookable halibut pellets which he is keen to try out.

After our second coffee we locked up and set off for Bradley Pond to do a bit of fishing (after all, it would have been rude not to). Dave stalked the lake looking for sign of activity which was hard to find as mother nature had just dumped a whole months worth of rain on us in three days but we found a likely spot and set up. The conversation was good and the weather stayed fine and the surrounding were beautiful but in the few hours that we spent fishing we blanked! It happens to the best anglers as well as us mortals but one thing is for certain, Dave will be producing tales and images of battles won and fish banked along with the methods used and bait that produced.
