What Did Dave Woodmansey of
Angling Times say about the Dante?
| Seriously Smooth: The Lineaeffe
Dante has 10 ball bearings, but has a price tag of just £39.95
Fixed spool reels with 10 ball-bearings used
to cost an arm and a leg, but this smooth and smart offering from
Italian tackle giant Lineaeffe has a price tag of just £39.95.
The match-sized Dante 40 can be used on float or medium feeder work and
comes with two spools - one shallow drilled alloy carrying 165m of
0.20mm mono, and a spare deep graphite with a line capacity of 180m of
0.30mm. The multi-disc front drag reels have a 5.2:1 gearing, one-way
clutch and instant anti-reverse. |

What Did Jonny Northmore of
Fishing Magic say about the
Carp Concept Rod?
|
The 'Carp Concept'
immediately struck me as a rod made for fishing at distance as I pulled
it out of the cloth bag it comes supplied in. Heavier than some, but not
all of the more well-known carp rods from the bigger brands, this rod is
not one for holding all day long. Just as well then, that it is designed
for carp fishing. Spending more than enough time on a rest, the weight
will not become a factor. Tackled and paired up with a complementary
reel, the rod balances out like any good rod should.
As mentioned earlier, the rod looked capable of some big distances when
required, and this was certainly the case. Although I did not have that
much room to cast, that being I would have landed on the other side of
the lake if had tried, I was certainly able to reach a good 80 yards
with ease. Compressing nicely and with the correct timing, the rod did
it's job and launched my 2½ oz lead where I needed it to go. Another
feature of this rod, is the addition of a line clip, allowing near
precise accuracy, providing you get the direction of course. The line
clip on the rod is also less harsh on the line than using one on the
reel.
The stiff action of the rod meant that striking into fish was effective,
especially at long range. Playing fish became a bit hairy under the rod
tip, but this is expected with a rod that can cast long distance. You
can't have it both ways!
All in all, this rod was a joy to use and catch fish on. I've had fish
to double figures on it and it in no way struggled with anything. I was
casting with weights of around 2½ oz, but I would have no problem
lobbing out a method feeder full of bait.

What Did Kevin Miles of
Anglers Today say about the
Hi-Tech Feeder Rod?
|
One of the benefits of being an angling journalist is that you get to
try out some of the latest tackle to hit the shops - and when the
Hi-Tech Feeder Rod from Lineaeffe arrived on my desk - I have to admit -
I was eager to give it a try.
Now there's a huge array of rods in tackle shops these days - and
choosing the right rod can be suite a task... so if you are looking for
a rod capable of chucking out a heavy method feeder - read on...
This rod is beefy - make no mistake - it's not designed for little roach
and rudd, it's a powerful beastie.
I put 6lb line through it with a 3oz method feeder and it handled it
with ease. The rod would be ideal for a commercial carp water where the
fish can be well into double figures.
Build Quality
Here at A.T. we tell it like it is - and this 3-piece 12ft rod came up
to our expectations. It has superb double-leg line guides, all perfectly
aligned and perfectly finished. Top notch quality! I used my Shimano
4000 for the review, but my big pit reel fitted the screw-down reel seat
with no problems, while the traditional cork handle is just the right
length. There's even a neat little ring keeper - very useful - I reckon
all rods should have them. The carbon blank has a powerful middle to tip
action and is very capable of handling big fish. There is no test curve
given. There are three interchangeable tip sections - they are not
identified, but I reckon you're looking at 1, 2 and 3oz tips. A cloth
bag finishes the package.
All-in-all - a very capable, powerful rod. Well worth a try as a barbel
rod if you're into river fishing, but ideally suited to big tench and
carp.

What Did Jonny Northmore of
Fishing Magic say about the
Opera 4BB Freespool Reel?
|
Straight out of the box, this
looks like an absolute work-horse of a reel. The Opera incorporates all
of the features you would expect from a reel incorporating 'freespool'
into its name. Aimed at the specimen angler more than anyone, this reel
features an anti-reverse switch, located at the front, a freespool
switch at the back, a line clip and a superb aluminium spool that has
been designed to get your lead and bait to where you want it. The handle
is wooden and the arm is able to fold down by simply pressing a button.
The main spool is aluminium and
line is laid on exceptionally well. Another feature to this, is the fact
that taking the spool off the spindle reveals a number of washers. These
can be removed so as to give different variations on line lay, from
flat, tapered bottom up and tapered top down. All three functions
performing very well and working as they should. Why you need all of
these functions is something beyond my scientific expertise, but I know
that having the line tapered top to bottom gives less friction when
trying to achieve distance.
The drag is set at the front for
those hard fighting fish, with the freespool tension being adjusted
using the dial at the back. My only quarm with this reel is the spare
spool which is made from graphite and not aluminium.
Overall I am extremely pleased
with this reel and I believe that it is capable of giving many more
years of valuable service and with a price tag of only, £29.95, who can
complain?

What Did Dave Woodmansey of
Angling Times say about the Lineaeffe Inflatable Hooking Mat?
| FISH SAFETY JUST GOT A LOT EASIER
Lineaeffe blow-up unhooking mat £24.95
Here's one of the lightest, most compact,
yet perfectly safe unhooking mats we've seen and it should interest any
specialist or match angler pressed for space. The mat is easy to
transport yet takes just a few seconds to blow up by mouth. Fully
unrolled, the mat measures roughly 110cm (43ins) square, with half of
that being a well padded unhooking area, the other half being a kneeling
mat. The size mat is ideal for chub/barbel/tench/bream/zander
specialist, or for medium sized 'specimen' carp. It's also perfect for
the increasing number of commercial carp fisheries where unhooking mats
are now required to safeguard valuable fish that have grown too large to
be unhooked in a suspended landing net, as they could be damaged if
dropped onto hard wood or concrete standing. The mat has pegging-out
points and can double as a carry bag/weighing bag. Pay £24.95. |

What Did Dave Woodmansey of
Angling Times say about the Lineaeffe Magma Concours Monofilament?
| Italian fishing tackle giant Lineaeffe
reckons this new generation, low diameter, low memory reel & rig line
now being sold in the UK is amazingly strong and abrasion-resistant,
with "incredible" knot strength. The 150m spool are vacuum-packed to
maintain moisture levels and keep out potentially damaging light rays,
so the line will be in tip top condition when you buy it. It's available
in seven breaking strains from 2.65lb (0.10mm diameter) to 15lb (0.23mm
diameter). |
